Seat Check Saturday was THIS Saturday
October 3, 10 AM to 2 PM at Mashpee Fire. π
A note from Jenn
Hi friends,
Cape Cod had other plans for September 26. When the nor'easter rolled in, the Mashpee Fire chief made the call to keep everyone safe and off the roads, and we moved Seat Check Saturday one week out. Safety first is kind of our whole thing, so it felt exactly right.
The good news? Same place, same hours, same free checks, and now it's just two days away. If you missed your chance last weekend, this is it. Come see us.
Seat Check Saturday
Free checks. Certified techs. Zero judgment.
π Mashpee Fire Department, 20 Frank E Hicks Drive, Mashpee
ποΈ Saturday, October 3 (rescheduled from 9/26)
β° 10 AM to 2 PM
π Completely free, presented by Cape Cod 5
Bring your car seat and your questions. Our certified child passenger safety technicians will check your install, fix anything that needs fixing, and show you how, so you can do it with confidence every time.
What to bring:
β
Your car seat manual
β
Your vehicle manual (it tells us where the seat can go)
β
Your child, if you can, so we can check the fit, not just the install
No manuals? No worries. Come anyway.
Walk-ins welcome all day. Already booked for 9/26? Just come on the 3rd.
Why a check matters
Last year, 73% of the seats we inspected on Cape Cod had at least one significant error. That's not a parenting problem. Car seats are complicated, manuals are dense, and every car is a little different. A few minutes with a certified tech clears it all up.
Three things you can check before Saturday:
β The inch test. Grab the seat at the belt path and give it a firm tug side to side and front to back. It shouldn't move more than an inch.
β Harness height. Rear-facing, straps come from at or below the shoulders. Forward-facing, at or above.
β The expiration date. Yes, car seats expire. Look for a sticker on the side or bottom of the seat.
Not sure about any of these? That's what Saturday is for.
With thanks
A reschedule takes teamwork. Thank you to Mashpee Fire Department for keeping our families safe during the storm and opening their doors again on the 3rd, to Cape Cod 5 for sponsoring every free check, and to our volunteer technicians who shuffled their weekends to be there. We are so lucky to have you.
Help us reach $2,500
The storm bought us one more week to reach our goal. We are raising $2,500 to keep Seat Check Saturday free and to put safe seats in more cars, and every gift counts.
$25 guides a family toward a safer ride
$50 stocks check day with the supplies we need
$100 covers a full hands-on check and class for one family
$250 puts a brand-new car seat in a car for a family who needs one
In 2025, we taught 100+ caregivers, assisted 40+ installs, and donated 20+ free seats. Your gift is what makes the next number bigger. π
Four easy ways to help this week
1. Book your seat check for October 3.
2. Give toward our $2,500 goal.
3. Forward this to a parent who missed the new date.
4. Come say hello at Mashpee Fire.
See you Saturday, Cape Cod. Let's keep every child riding safe. And watch your inbox for a follow-up, where I'll share how the day went.
